It has been pointed out to me by another Norse mythology enthusiast that it's possible that the serpent surrounding Mjolnir in the pic is supposed to be Thor's arch-nemesis, Jormungand the Midgard Serpent. This is a possibility, even though the serpent in the pic resembles more a conventional snake to me. I wish I could contact the artist who created this pic to see if that serpent is supposed to be Jormungand or not. If it is, then the serpent in that pic actually represents opposition to what Mjolnir represents, the continued tyranny of the bourgeosis in political terms for the working class and the continued attacks and attempts to destroy us by the antis and the anti-minded media in regards to the MAA community, as well as continued state and near-absolute parental power in regards to youth liberationists. The standard serpent has often been used to represent strength and courage in history (note the serpents on the Caduceaus Wand), attributes that Thor possesses and which his worshippers pray to him to receive for themselves, but again I am not sure if this serpent is supposed to be Jormungand, who is fated to destroy and in turn be destroyed by Thor in the climactic battle between the forces of the gods and the forces of evil at Ragnarok. If anyone here has any thoughts on what the serpent might represent, I would like to hear them. ![]() |
