Have you ever wondered who "Charlie" was? Karl Marx, of course.
Have you ever wondered why they were "Angels"? Because of Friedrich Engels, of course.
They didn't quit the police force because of the boring tasks they were assigned - they were just recruited by the Komintern's many arms.
Notice that they were women - which in the Cold War was an admissible way of saying they were against the status quo. Notice also that they were blondes and brunettes - back then a truly interracial cast would in itself call too much attention, but it's important because Communist nations appeared in disparate areas: Eastern Europe, Latin America, East Asia and Sub-Saharan Africa. The movie, made in other age, appropriately shows blonde Barrymore, ethnic Cuban Diaz, and ethnic Chinese Liu. Notice, finally, that we never know when or how much they were paid - insinuating they were volunteer warriors, fighting for the honour of the Revolution, not for a salary.
Therefore, it's obvious that Charlie's Angels are a symbol of Communism.
