alot of people benefit from keeping kids ignorant and powerless,from the parents who dont want their kids growing up, to the feminists who see sexually active girls as a threat, to the churchs who dont want us having too much fun because we will stop going to church and buying their lies.

as for protecting kids,the laws dont do a very good job at that,and often times make matters worse. and that doesnt even include how the wishes of the kids are ignored.

the laws should be about protecting kids from abuse. its not suppossed to be about keeping them safe from knowledge and experience. besides,if people were just honest with kids and armed them with sexual knowledge,we wouldnt need as many laws. kids would be better prepared to watch out for themselves.
convincing kids that sex is dirty and having sex with someone older is always abusive does nothing for kids. it either turns them into victims or makes them into sexually neurotic and repressed adults.

when you use a scatter-gun approach to lawmaking and punishment,you will hit the kids as well. we are already seeing evidence of this. they should only be putting away the violent offenders,the ones who kidnap,rape,and murder children. getting 20 years for looking at porn is insane and just goes to show how fucked up our society has become. and the statutory rape charge is total bullshit anyway. we already have a law for rape. it should be good enough for women and girls. consentual sex is obviously not the same as forced rape,even if the girl is under 18...

most of the child protection laws are crap. they hurt they kids nearly as often as the "offenders."
