You made some good points. However, I don't see the campaign against CP as being against CP, rather it seems to be wholly against those who might derive pleasure from it. In this respect, the LEO's are simply against US. I see the CP as simply being a natural consequence of mass hysteria and social repression. After all, who would prefer CP to actual contact with an LG? And from a cop standpoint, if there was no more CP, would they not have to get out of the office and start chasing REAL criminals? I see the war on CP as being very similar to the war on drugs and it's sequel of late, the war on terror, in that:

1. They COULD stomp it out (or at least minimalize it) should they want to, at any time, by simply removing the political BS and allowing unbiased science and reasoning to decide the AOC.

2. But as long as the controversy continues, they can keep throwing it up in the mass media, making mountains from molehills and scaring everyone to death, then getting them to demand that their government help with the "problem," and thereby distracting them from the issues that REALLY matter.

3. This "help" always, ALWAYS comes with a price tag of lessened freedoms, rights relinquished, more power given to the government, and more tax dollars to continue "the good fight." And the beat goes on. Our only chance is to let these parasitic vampires die a slow death of attrition and neglect, and hope no one shows up for the next war they put on.
