I think my friend's logic was that typical males are perverts, therefore I was being a pervert for giving a cute waitress a good tip just for being cute and not because of the quality of her service. But I get your point that a pervert is supposed to be someone with atypical behavior. Unfortch, that is often not the common definition given to "pervert"...that definition is usually for someone who reacts in an overtly (or overly) sexual way to someone, e.g., the way men often behave towards women.
