So what about... our own Wikipedia

This proposal has been raised before. It resulted in sites like GirlWiki (childlover.org), BoyWiki, Norbert's Paed Encyclopedia. All of these are off line and can only be found in archives.

We need an all-encompassing information resource and we need a foot in the search results of various topics that are of importance to us. The great intelligence and resourcefulness of this community is largely wasted if it is not pooled/organised in such a way.

I administrate and contribute to the most recent reincarnation of this idea - see http://newgon.com/wiki. Many of the articles have been saved from the archives of above mentioned sites (including Wikipedia itself), and I will happily release copies of the updated articles if their webmasters decide to put them back on line.

In terms of participation, response has been slow, despite the many different projects run from this wiki (http://newgon.com/wiki/Help:Editing). Is it that people prefer a narrow-visioned, romantic ethos and are thus put off by our tendency to focus on political issues and gender-neutrality? The mediocre tally of 300 visits a day to the site concerned may have more to say about that.
