Amen, brother. I feel that every person on this planet makes a contribution of some sort (whether direct or indirect is only a matter of perceived efficiency, and has nothing to do whatsoever with effectiveness.) And if a person wants to pay someone to help them talk through things, well then, caveat emptor. However, any profession (lawyers, psychotherapists, insurance agencies) which derives ANY portion of its' income from people who are FORCED against their will to buy it is inherently defective. This is simple bullying. The part that really gets me is the disclosure requirements that apply chiefly to pedophiles. Admit you murdered someone ten years ago, they'll "help you work through it." Admit you touched someone inappropriately just a month ago, and they are required to alert the authorities. And if the court ordered you to be there "voluntarily," and you don't immediately begin taking responsibility for your actions or admitting to your "problem," then they report back to the court that you are in denial, and not progressing in therapy. Many parolees are told they can either go to therapy or go back to prison, and then they have the audacity to call it VOLUNTARY! What the hell kind of choice is that? No one should ever be forced to accept ANY sort of treatment that they don't desire. This is pure George Orwellian psycho-rape.
