What's unhealthy about being religious? What's unhealthy about concluding something false if it makes your life better as a result? Don't we all do this? It's a natural human impulse, we use our brains to see the most pleasant reality and strive for it. Granted that when the foundation for our reality is shaken, it hurts us emotionally, sometimes scares us, sometimes traumatizes us, but it happens to all of us, and we still are able to build it back up with our new convictions and press on.

On a side note, I believe all people are religious. And I believe everyone's religion is different. I don't limit the breadth of religious thought merely to the categorical known religions of the world, but to what collective mindset we are currently relying on at this particular point in time. I do this because if truth is relative, all we have on which to base our reality is nothing more than what has convinced us the most. So where does faith or belief in anything particular stand on defining religion if we can't establish whether or not we do the exact same thing? Hence my conclusion, everyone is religious, and everyone's religion is different.

Back to before, yes, the industry you're referring to is a bunch of bullshit. Mentality, however, is something we all have. To maintain it is a necessity, and I would put my money where my mouth is by supporting the research currently being done on it.
