Well, it's important to note...

The TVtropes is a wiki-based site generally devoted to movies, music, comics, etc. as is not afraid to criticize some of the more idiotic practices of pop culture and 'corporate' mentality. Just look at the title of that article- "All Paedophiles are Child Molestors." Books and movies and television shows typically follow this notion, especially in Western, English-speaking properties.

In short, this is as serious as TVtropes gets. They're not trying to change the world here, merely criticizing the media. But it was still quite refreshing to see.

I was also pleasantly surprised that the article acknowledged the difference between pedophilia and ephebophilia, something the media at large seldom does.

Damn- I should've placed a bet that you'd notice this! ;P One of my favorite bits as well.

And interestingly, I found the paedophilia article as a subheading under a page called "Did Not do the Research."

Writers in film, television and other media can sometimes be lazy people who cannot be bothered to do proper research on subjects relevant to the plot of their work of fiction. At other times (especially in TV), they just cannot squeeze research into the 10 days or so they get to write a script. In other cases, putting in too much detail would be distracting and annoying. Either way, the research did not get done.
