Unrealistic body image garbage

I'm sure we've all come across articles written to help teenage girls through the hardships of puberty. You know, peer pressure, pimples, sex, etc. Often, I have heard such articles referring to an "unrealistic body image." They say, "Don't compare yourself to movie stars, supermodels or the celebrities on the fronts of magazines. They only look that good because of special lighting, make-up and photo re-touching. It's unrealistic to want to look like that." Have you heard that before?

So nobody looks like that. It's unreal. Strange then, that when I go to the mall on a Saturday morning I see HUNDREDS of beautiful girls, just as flawless as the magazine models. And it's strange that at the Casino on a Saturday night there are flawless girls AND WOMEN everywhere. There they are! They're real!

It's such garbage. Instead of saying to a teenage girl, "No, you mustn't wish to look like that, you must love your body like it is," I would rather say, "Okay, let's do everything we can to help you to look like that." Imagine how happy a girl will become when she starts looking better, compared to how she'll feel with the daily drag of twisting her mind into loving her body.
