The reason why is precisely because it does involve sexual motifs.

The issue of sexuality is always far more threatening and repulsive to religious order and religously moral paradigms. Even in these 'enlightened' times, we are still living in the overhang of the Church (especially in the USA), and whilst it has lost its political power (to some extent, at least), the morality of the church is still injected every day into the fabric of our society, politics, and our cultural norms.

Hence, anything involving 'sex' is regarded as some kind of an abomination...

Whereas violence is nothing at all to worry about to religious authorities - just look to the Church's past to verify that...
