I'm not a great fan of cp, because in my mind there is no guarantee that the LGs (and the LBs) involved aren't suffering genuine pain & misery, and I for one do not want to see pain ever happening to a LG or LB. Doesn't mean to say that I don't think that the principles involved in cp are that much different to adult porn, but when the black market becomes a player in anything, you can never be sure.
But there is far more at stake here, and that is the issue of hand-drawn/computer generated depictions of cp and literary works detailing child/adult sex. In cases such as these, it is quite clear that no child can be said to have suffered any kind of pain or hardship, as no real children are involved in its conception or execution.
As for the assertion made by CSA 'experts', politicians & anti's that it encourages the rape or sexual abuse of children, this is quite frankly risible. There is no evidence that this is the case, any more than adult porn of any kind encourages the rape or maltreatment of women/men.
I will not insult your intelligence on the other obvious lack of links between murder novels or violent films to reality, but I think you will get my gist there...
What is fundamentally under attack is freedom of speech & freedom of expression. Just because someone, somewhere finds something distasteful, it does not follow that it should automatically be banned or criminalised, if there has been no illegal acts against a person, and if no evidence is there to prove that it would lead to such.
However, we have here a plain example of the 'distasteful' being criminalised without such further proofs of evidence. The reason why is because we are easy targets - there is no-one who will speak up for us, and the authorities know that, and therefore know that they can act with impunity. A similar law was passed in the UK recently, where any 'extreme' forms of porn (S&M, simulated rape, etc) was declared illegal, just on the whim of a handful of people - those affected were too scared to come forward, for fear of being identified amongst their friends, family & peers. Thus the UK government got its way, because it knew that it was picking on a group of people who had little in the way of a voice.
This shouldn't just scare us, it should scare everyone. This is the way that a totalitarian regime always begins - they start with those without a voice, & then slowly escalate it up to eventually include everyone, by stealth. By which time, it's too late...
This kind of thing is exactly the reason why we need to get ourselves a voice - and get it now.
I said this wasn't going to be a long post, but it has still turned out to be so. Many apologies, & thanks for taking the time to read this.
Any comments anyone wants to make on any of this are appreciated...
