Well, first of all a happy new year to you and GC !

Of course i read your article with great interest, my beloved A. is Asian an i know personally how affectionate and loving these relationships can be.

How very well said by mr. Zhang.

But OMG, after reading the comments i suddenly realized again in what world we live in today, even if there is not a slightest hint of pedosexuality they will add it themselves.

"My first thought was immediately that this was inappropriate, especially the one photograph of the father and daughter on a bed. I couldn't help but feel this was pushing it, especially with the proliferation of pornography involving Asian women and children with white men available on the internet"

Andrea wrote:

"I got a "pedo" vibe from these photos. If I were just looking at the photos without any knowledge that they were fathers and daughters, I would have thought that they were subtly advocating the child sex trade. It immediately calls to mind the role that White men have in going over to East Asian countries and fucking the little girls for pay. Why are nearly all of the girls hands in such close proximity to their fathers crotches? It's all tres creepy, especially in this picture. Why are they sitting on bed with disheveled sheets? That alone forces my mind to go to a place that I'd rather it not.

Furthermore, why in this series is "Western" synonymous with "White" ? I"m sure that there are Chinese-born girls transracially adopted into non-White, Western families. It smacks of White worship that I have witnessed a lot by groups of minorities. I respect the artists right to do whatever he or she wants to creatively but I'm gonna say that this:

Was the artist trying to be provocative by also using a medium that would so easily be interpreted as inappropriate?

is definitely the feeling I get, that O. Zhang uses this imagery for provocation rather than for the reasons he/she explained in the artists statement."

Poor Andrea, get a life.

The pedo vibes are in your head, not in the article or the picture.
"That alone forces my mind to go to a place that I'd rather it not."
You are obviously the sick one, not us....

Take care!
