I appreciate your response. Yes, the sticking point is bound to be the one on authority figures. After all, the sex abuse crisis in the Catholic Church was based on the authority of the priest over the alter boy. The possibility for misuse of authority is always a possibility.

But, in an open society, where things are not hidden under the rug (The Dirty Little Secret), it might be a lot less problematic for a child to tell a trusted adult if he or she is the victim of unwanted sexual attention. Within such a society, the abuse of authority would actually decrease.

In any case, as I said in response to Baldur's concern, all adults, by the very nature of their adulthood, hold an implied authority over children. The real difference seems to me, to be whether the authority is implied, or formally delegated, and, whether or not it is abused.
