(1) Perhaps you were already attracted to girls of ages 7-9 at the time you were very young.(And why not? Many gay people knew they were attracted to their own sex from childhood.)
(2)There is no need to "explain" attraction to underage girls. What is in operation here is a psychologistic fallacy that looks for "etiology" to "problems" defined in a particular place and time. This is so 20th Century. But kidding aside, the idea that your early life causes your sexual thoughts and desires in later life is a model without any scientific or conceptual validation. (There are certainly cultures that would laugh uproariously over such ideas.)
(3) Human evolutionary pressures caused attraction to females at a young age -- even pre-pubescent girls possess traits of sexual attractiveness -- and equally importantly, caused even pre-pubescent girls to elicit male response. See Don Symons, "Beauty is in the Adaptations of the Beholder: The Evolutionary Psychology of Human Female Sexual Attractiveness."*** After much scientific discussion, Symons notes at the end of the article:
"When male mating psychology is better understood, even the notion of a single, unitary continuum of "sexual attraction" may turn out to be too simple. Margaret Mead wrote in 'Male and Female' that everywhere girls are permanently clothed before boys, and that a little girl will be taught to cross her legs, or to tuck her heels under her, or to sit with her legs parallel. This is because 'older boys and men definitely find little girls of four or five definitely female and attractive, and that attractiveness must be masked and guarded just as the male eye must be protected from the attractiveness of their older sisters and mothers.' (Mead, 1967, 195( During the course of human evolutionary history men may often have been betrothed and even married to prepubescent girls, as often occurs among living preliterate peoples. Male mating psychology may turn out to include sentiments, which are elicited by very young females, that are not exactly sexual, but not exactly not sexual either, sentiments for which there are no specific words in the English language. (It would be interesting to know whether such words exist in any language.)"
Obviously an exclusive desire for very young girls would be evolutionarily disfavored insofar as such girls are incapable of reproduction, but as Symons points out, evolutionary pressures in fact disfavored those who preferred OLDER girls more than those who preferred younger ones. An exclusive attraction to pre-pubescent girls should thus be viewed as an artifact of evolution, an error from the individual standpoint. However, such attraction could not be viewed as an illness or an outcome "caused" by early experiences, trauma, inadequacy, etc., which such theories have been long discredited anyway by honest researchers. (See Paul Okami; Paul Langevin at the Clarke Institute in Toronto).
That isn't to diminish your fond memories of being able to play with 7 to 9 year old girls without a care in the world. Enjoy.
