I was married to a Filipina and i have been there a few times.
Still thinking of living there after my retirement (still 10 years to go).

A possibility is to lease land and build a house on it, the house can officially be yours.

It's also possible for my ex to buy a limited amount of land and lease it to me (we divorced without the usual fights and trouble).

Unfortunately parts of the Philippines are very dangerous, there is MILF (Moro Islamic Liberation Front)and NPA (New Peoples Army) who sometimes raise funds by kidnapping foreigners and many other dangers.

Speaking some Tagalog and being accompanied by a local is advisable when traveling.

My favorite place is Baguio city, much cooler than other parts of Philippines and with beautiful surroundings.
