Personally, I think the whole idea is bogus.

No, it is not bogus. When I was young - a young teen, something from 12 to 15 - most of my dreams were lucid. This period lasted for many years, and it began spontaneously: I did nothing to learn lucid dreaming. I had never even heard about it then.

Someone later tried to explain this saying that I am an "over-conscious" person, always too conscious of myself, my thoughts and feelings. Maybe it is true.

In my dreams I jumped down a high bridge, because I knew it was only a dream. "This is a dream; it cannot harm me." I walked uphill and came to think that it would be easier to walk if there were stairs there, so I created the stairs. After that I amused myself by changing their color to everything I could imagine. I did thousands of things, most of which I have forgotten.

There were problems too... At that age I was very interested in sex, naturally. But every time I tried to fuck a girl in my dreams the pussy somehow vanished, and I was never able to get a real orgasm. This may be a big disappointment to some GC posters... You must develop a better technique.

Btw, how many girls there are in your sig pic?
