i suppose one can claim that genes are the only constant in a lifespan, but genes are always expressed in context and the range of physical conditions for human life is limited, if broad. to some extent at least, we all reflect some consistency in our respective life cycles.

i don't argue against some genetic involvement in adult attraction to children, but i think insofar as it is something outside the norm, which i think for many here it is, there are many potential aetiologies besides gene expression.

actually i think the role of neoteny and paedopmorphism in human evolution speaks strongly for a genetic basis in preference for younger partners, but again, i think this is a general characteristic of our species, not an explanation for the existence of a sexual minority.

it strikes me that females are innately attracted to children (otherwise, why would they play with dolls?), and in the situation where males are similarly attracted, for whatever reason, i think there is the possibility of a sexual aspect presenting itself.
