Children respond to attention. It doesn't matter what kind of attention.

Here is where your BS lies. Yes, there are different kinds of attention and children know this and can detect this and respond accordingly. [According to, of course, their own feeling that is.] There's a big difference between a simple smile from someone being polite and a smile from someone who is genuinely surprised to see you! I mean, hell, I meet strange women all the time who smile just to be friendly. But every now and again one who give me that look and it's a bit of an ego boost. Everyone gets that! You're underestimating children here, bro, and that is what I take offense too.

Children have very keen bullshit detectors. When I talk to any children I know, they know I'm taking an honest interest in what they're saying or interested in and am respecting it. They will occasionally tell their parents I'm "nice" to them for no reason. It doesn't matter if they don't know I'm attracted to them[in the cases where I am], it only matters that they get the feeling I am different than the other adults they know, some with their codescending, baby-talk attitudes.

I wouldn't argue with whether or not paedar exists. Paedar is hardly a "gasp, it's a paedophile!!!" reaction. When a girl [or boy] receives a positive, genuine appreciation from an adult they often know it's different, and for different reason, than their mom giving them a cookie. The word "paedophile" doesn't even cross their mind! But THAT is paedar, essentially.
