"i don't argue against some genetic involvement in adult attraction to children, but i think insofar as it is something outside the norm, which i think for many here it is, there are many potential aetiologies besides gene expression."

To say there are "many potential etiologies besides gene expression" suggests at the very least carefully-considered or tested theories. However, NONE of the so-called "psychological" etiological theories have been validated and, taken together, the entire idea of a psychological (developmental or victimologic) explanation reveals itself as a hodgepodge: pasting labels without identifying either a mechanism or an explanation of why x causes y (and conversely, why it doesn't). The fact is, these etiological "theories" fail even to establish correlation.

I would agree with you that there are POSSIBLE etiologies besides gene expression, but what they are, no one knows. One can, however, readily propose that gene expression is what causes interest in younger persons. Social and psychological factors lead people to interpret their feelings in certain ways, for example, to view themselves as part of a sexual minority (or not), or to seek out certain affiliations, relationships, activities and otherwise act on their feelings in some way. That makes good sense.
