When I wrote that piece, I was focusing more on the perceptions about us as opposed the realities.
To use an analogy, most folks who identify themselves as 'Satanists' do not actually kill people, skin cats alive, spray paint religious centers, etc., but if you asked the average person about 'Satanists', they would most likely name the above actions as being synonymous with 'Satanism.'
Continuing w/ the Satanist analogy, many young people emulate that type of behavior believing it is 'true devil worship' because they are in a state of rebellion against their parents and society in general. It is my hope that the teens and adolescents who see child rape and 'molestation' as 'cool'
(out of rebellion and against conformity) will be drawn to people like us. From that point on, it will be our duty to (gradually) show them that child love has nothing to do w/ coercion, rape, 'torture' or anything else that the anti's have told them. Once a friendship (or at least a meaningful dialogue) is established w/ these restless rebels, we will then have the opportunity to show them that violence and bullying is not our way but actually the way of the government and PJ types. We will have, in effect, opened their minds to a new way of thinking. Rather than glorifying anti social behavior, they will reject it as the way of the enemy. In the process, we will also learn from them and gain an education that we could not receive from any other source.
I'm sorry if this has turned out to be a bit of a lengthy rant, but my basic point is that we can (if we are careful and diplomatic) turn the enemy's demonization of us into something positive.
