You are right about rational course to deal. I've had to deal
with the legal system and it's quite intimidating. Unless
you are absolutely convinced you can win in a trail taking
the plea is the better part of valor. I took the plea, what
I got was peanuts compared to what I would've got if I went
to trial. I was in no position to fight, it would be technicalities
and I wasn't going to forfeit my future in the hope my lawyer
could find one and convince the judge to drop the case.

Another thing about the guy who got the 1 year sentence.
He has cancer and was given about 3 years to live. So if
the diagnosis is correct he's pretty much done for anyway.

Still a sweet deal, 1 year for what he was accused of compared
to what others get elsewhere is just amazing.
