I don't think it's a good idea. For one, children are more vulnerable than we are, if only because of their comparative lack of size, knowledge, and experience.

Second, I think humans are hardwired by evolution to protect children for the survival of the species and to pass on one's DNA into future generations.

I think we should value children more than we do now, not less. Value their opinions more. Value their desires more. Listen to them more, and respect them more. And repress them less. People claim to love children and want the best for them, get all freaked out when Johnny shows Sally his 'pee pee,' but then turn right around and scream at their kids or slap them around, and that just pisses me off. Some way to show love!
