Actually if you think about it, there is a vast chasm between words and actions when it comes to the "value" of children. We hear from politicians, from "child advocates", from those looking to sell products to or for children, from ordinary persons who wish to impose restrictions on what other persons can do, about how valuable children are, how they are our future, our most precious resource, etc. But those are just words from self-serving persons who use children as a means to an end. In reality, we do not really value children that much at all. Many of the same people mentioned above are quite happy with the status quo where we (in the usa) choose to have a (very roughly) $600 billion defense budget but also choose to NOT provide decent health and dental care, nutrition, education to ALL of our children. zlurker ![]() |
