Re: Intergenerational Friendships--good or bad idea?

In these days it's a bad idea I'm afraid, people will automatically assume there is something very wrong with it. The dear Abby story is a fine example of it.

This madness even made me paranoid: At the place I lived before I had a large garden and the kids in the neighborhood liked to play in it.
After my divorce I made a lock on the fence to prevent them to come into my garden, I actually was scared people might get wrong ideas about me.

Even at the weekends with A. around I wouldn't let children play with us after a mother who came to collect her daughter looked at me in a strange way (probably just my imagination and paranoia).

I interact with the friends of A., but always keep a distance for the same reason.

Sad but true.
