Age difference rules out alot of common interests

Mainly because modern society makes it so. The marketing machines continually churn out new generationally-targeted crazes with clocklike precision. More enduring hobbies, such as woodworking, camping, music making, sports, or many others, transcend generations. Younger hobbyists can benefit greatly from the experience of older (though there are gender roles involved in some of these, especially for older generations). Even books, movies, and music have classics to be appreciated by all.
