My dear, late wife, that is. As much as I love little girls (and I love them enormously!), they don't hold a candle to my wife as companions. Yes, I enjoy their company, talking with them and playing with them are fun, and giving them things that make them happy makes me feel happy, but...

My DW and I could have deep conversations, share "adult" humor (not only "dirty" humor, but clean humor that kids just wouldn't understand), and so forth. What a sweetheart she was. And there's something about being liked by a peer... *sigh* :-)
