This simply isn't true. You would certainly be missed here, and we all value what you think. You have been one of the most consistently intelligent and thoughtful posters at GC. Secondly, you have no idea how your ideas have changed opinions on this issue. You don't know how many lurkers have read one of your posts and thought, "Well, that makes sense." I have had some success off the board, and I have had a measurable impact, but I am different from you because I'm out. That makes it easier to gauge my impact because I don't have to hide my identity, and that makes it easier for people to see that I'm on the level. They can verify that I'm not a criminal or a troll just trying to get attention.

But that doesn't mean you haven't had just as much or even more impact than I've had. It's just impossible to gauge it. It's true that nothing much is likely to change in our lifetime, but your dedication to your fellow MAPs and to children will almost certainly bear fruit down the road. Don't give up hope, but also try not to expect too much of yourself or of society. Real change is always a slow process; that's how we know that it's valid. We aren't some trend--we are the seeds of a genuine movement, and while we don't always agree on everything, our central shared goal of acceptance is something that is certainly a worthwhile and achievable goal.
