although that's probably dying off a bit as 9/11 continues to fade away in our collective conscience. That is also dying off partly because of the disastrous results of the Iraqi and Afghan wars. Americans are less willing today to put their soldiers where their mouth is after seeing the results, and eventually that means they stop putting their mouth in things they know they aren't going to actually support with more than lip service. With paeds, ever more draconian laws are still viable and popular because their utter fail (unlike the Bush wars') is still being concealed from the public. |
