Do they think the same about other government departments that are much more expensive?? Because Defence and Health gobble up a whole lot more than the judicial system (expensive as it is) does. That is another reason why private prisons are introduced: if Big Brother paid for all the prisons in the USA, only God knows how much more taxes would be needed to pay for that!!

In any case, unless they are tax fundamentalists of either left or right (which they probably aren't, for the rest of what they said), that sounds stupid. They should actually look at the budget to see what gets spent where.

The obvious way to save all that money, in any case, would be to drop that law and stop trying people for it. THAT would save!!! Of course, DAs might lose their extra well paid jobs.
