What do-gooder busybodies fail to admit is that pain, struggle and risk-taking are all part of life and learning. "No pain, no gain," as the adage goes. Some clichés carry the ring of truth. Every attempt to institutionalize safety and comfort brings us closer to a full-blown totalitarian system, and even that would ultimately cause even more pain than it would ameliorate. The way to genuine youth liberation (like female liberation) is to CONQUER victimhood, not wallow in it. |
