I know where it's coming from: frustration at our own ineffectualness

I know it is not easy to see, but there are signs of effectiveness. I wouldn't count us out just yet. What is more, you yourself have done good service in this regard - but I hope you understand that there is sometimes more going on with the bickering than might appear on the surface.

In fact, I wouldn't be surprised if there are several people who work for various governments whose job includes trying to resolve our legitimate complaints peacefully. The political leadership understands that an unhappy populace is not good for the economy, and a poor economy is not good for their paychecks and pretensions to power.
