There's a lot of finger-pointing and scapegoating, as well as simplistic, high-contrast thinking, all wrapped up in a moldy tortilla of bitterness and resentment. I know where it's coming from: frustration at our own ineffectualness, and too many people are in denial about it.

Oh, I agree that there is a lot of frustration.

But, our ineffectualness is derived from a certain fragmentation. Although part of this fragmentation is directly derived from and due to intentional hostile action by antis, governments, ngo's and igo's, it was also due to normal technological and social changes going on during the last 17 or so years. These changes have affected both the width and depth of cohesion among different groups and the chances to form anew groups that will share and pursue a similar interest. So, even without hostile actions, part of it would have happened nonetheless. The good part is that there are reasons now to think that the pendulum is swinging in our favour at the moment, in the same social and technological fields.

Isn't it LGs who is fond of saying that the definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over and expecting different results?

it seems like we're intent on alienating pretty much everyone who disagrees with us. Why?

Oh, we can all defend kiddie pronz, human trafficking and underage everything in public. But we cannot be as strident as we are here. That's the difference between "The Canadian AOC raising bill will do nothing to protect youths and a lot to increase intrusive powers of government and further exacerbate problems for the criminal system" and "Screw Stephen Harper and his party, such fascist uptight faux-con assholes" - (the two sentences are identical to me).

I think that explains something.
