There is enough populous hate for pedophiles that the government doesn't need to assassinate them. It's not necessary. Assassinations are reserved for people who are harder to get to otherwise. People who have protection and a following.

First thing they'll do is slander you and try to get you arrested on trumped up charges. If for whatever reason they fail at doing that, then they might go for the assassination. But first you have to be worth killing. If everyone hates you and everyone thinks you're crazy, then you're really not worth killing. You actually have to pose a serious threat to the status quo.
