Am I going to trust you or a graduated historian/professor? I think I'm going to stick with Russell on this one. I think he may be more informed than you are on in history. Everything starting happening for the homosexual movement after stonewall. And stonewall and shortly afterward was anything but "being nice." They were radical as well and part of a greater counter-culture that lost it's momentum in the 80's.
