I think it's beyond merely gauche to go around saying, "I want such-and-such people to be tortured and killed." It betrays an essential quality of character that, for starters, isn't going to make people feel more comfortable about you wanting to have sex with their kids. And frankly, it makes me feel pretty suspicious about your mentality too.

I actually think we are so close to children we don't realise that. Children's feelings and action are much more in accordance - their gap is smaller than that of adults. And because this is so with children we wrongly assume it to be the real default with adults. It is not.

I don't run my life on it either. I see it like living in an earthquake zone: you know it is going to strike, but not when, so it is pointless to live in fear. When it strikes, it will; but before that, you cannot know so it is not really a justified worry.
