On children failing to score

Exactly. If you were to remove the scoring markers from Baseball, then fewer boys would try to get to Second Base on their first inning.

At the very least the benefit of scoreless Footie lies in the audience not having to hear the likes of Andrés Cantor yelling, "Goooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooal!!!!"
