Charges Dropped In Death Of 2-Month-Old Boy
Posted by FreeThinkerGL on 2011-October-12 20:52:02 EDT, WednesdayLOS LUNAS, N.M. -- The mother of a baby who was run over and killed said she is devastated after charges were dropped against the 91-year-old driver accused in the incident.
On Tuesday, a Valencia County judge dismissed the vehicular homicide charge after Seiber was found incompetent to stand trial.
The mother told Action News 7 reporter Ilana Gold that more than anything she wanted justice for her son. She said the man accused of the death her 2-month-old son got away unpunished. "It just makes us ask why? How? How did this get messed up so bad?" said Michelle Stafford about the case against Charles Seiber.

Seiber was accused of running over Stafford while she was on her morning walk in 2009 in Los Lunas and killing her infant son, Sebastian. Investigators said Seiber was driving without a license after being denied a new one.
"He had to face some sort of justice ... and he faced none," Stafford said.
"I hope nobody else has to go through this battle," Stafford said. "Nobody has to face this, and end up walking away empty-handed."
Sebastian would be 2 years old.
This news is very, very sad, indeed. Ok, so the man was found incompetent to stand trial. If the man cannot understand the charges against him he cannot be prosecuted. However, I think this would be different, much harder if it were a murder case, and if he wasn't so old.
I didn't feel jail time would do him any good (I don't think it does any good imo). But I would've thought that his car would be taken away from him, since he was without a license after all. On another news sites, his son, who lives near him promises the court that his father will not drive again.
Some ppl are saying 'He wasn't too incompetent to drive. Even at his age he is accountable if he was behind the wheel. For shame justice system!!!!!!'
Well, not true because if you remember from the article, which says.. Seiber was driving without a license after being denied a new one. so that means that he was denied for some reason, maybe for not being able to drive in the first place, which is was he unforch hit the mum abd her baby which died.
I do however think he, or maybe his son/fam since Seiber didn't under why he was charged should've had to pay at least something to the fam of this baby boy, who now we don't have in the world.
What do you all think?
