Indeed, this does happen sometimes. (See: labeling theory ⚠️ ↗.) What we must understand--and attempt to counteract--is this oversimplification of the issues and of us, which our enemies engage in with propaganda. Some MAPs follow suit (and therefore lend credence to the lie) by doing it in reverse: MAPs are all or mostly all saints who would never hurt a fly. I suspect the reality lies somewhere closer to the middle. We're all human, all capable of moments of selfishness and errors in judgment, etc., and it is when we forget who we are and what we're capable of that we're most likely to act in ways we would not be proud of. Thus, we must be careful keep it all in perspective.
