You can take the easy out here by saying that God's powers do not obey the rules of logic.

I see it the other way around: because logic has to emanate from God, omnipotence cannot be defined in a way that is illogical. If it is defined in a way that is illogical, it is not "true" omnipotence.

I see logic as derived from God because it is ultimately arbitrary and non-empirical. Like mathematics.

No, most atheists (and most of the religious, I will admit) see godly attributes, such as omnipotence is, in a parochial way. It makes for a cool Jim Carrey movie, but not for good theology.

Of course, writings like the Bible, where God is intentionally portrayed as whimsical as a Dilbert boss, feed into that.

God is not a Dilbert boss.
