Exactly who is a victim?

Wives in polygynous marriages, whether Muslim or Mormon, are often described as victims of patriarchy, barefoot and pregnant. But quoting Marlene, who was the first and for six years the only wive, so might have stayed monogamous but did not:
"Today, Marlene and Becca describe themselves as being married to each other, in the same way that they are married to Isaiah.
And for Marlene, who is just weeks from giving birth to her fourth child, she never imagined marriage any other way.
'If Isaiah had told me that he didn't want this before we got married, I probably wouldn't have married him,' she said."
Nevertheless, it was Becca who took the initiative in proposing to Isaiah and Marlene - not Marlene proposing to Becca.
And for a minor who became a victim, see

"In an interview to publicise her new book, Kach said she was already a troubled teen at the time of her abduction.
Her parents were breaking up and, in dealing with her problems, the teenager confided in Hose, meeting him under the stairwell at school.
Kach said she believed she was beginning a relationship with Hose, 25 years her senior."
"She told KDKA-TV, 'My mother wasn't in my life at that point. My dad completely forgot he even had had a daughter and we were living under the same roof, and I was hanging around with the wrong crowd.'
Kach recalled, 'He was an authority figure, wearing a uniform and a badge. (He was) somebody that you would trust, and he befriended me.'
Kach ran away from home, to Hose's house, where he lived with his parents and a son. "
But eventually, she got tired of hiding:
"She says she was too afraid to leave because Hose threatened to find and kill her."
Compare Natasha Ryan, who also voluntarily hid for love, but came out because someone else would be convicted of murdering her.
So... how would you satisfy yourself that your daughter is satisfied with whoever she is with, and continues to be satisfied?
