Don't read too much into silence.

There are those who, when uncomfortable, choose to remove themselves from the situation, rather than charge in and attack.

I had an acquaintance who, as I got to know him better, was always trying to suck me into his relationship drama with his wife. It seemed to me that it was mostly his fault, and that he wasn't ready to hear this. So instead of being confrontational, I just retreated from spending time around him.

Maybe its "your secret." Maybe its something else.

But acquaintances of short duration are oftentimes easier to sever than to deal with differences.

When I "came out" to my brother, he changed the subject.

Our relationship is AFAIK exactly the same after as it was before. But while my folks understand my sexuality, my brother is silent and I haven't pressed him.

I'm not concerned by the silence.
