As you might expect, the "Right to carry" law gives private citizens the right to carry concealed weapons, after a training class.
The "Stand your ground" amendment changed the old law, which stated that you must run first if assaulted, firing only if pursued. The amendment altered that, so you no longer need to run if assaulted; you may stand your ground and defend yourself.
Originally, the law only allowed you to protect your home and the people in it from intruders. The "Right to carry" law gave you the ability to protect yourself in public too, so that you need not live in fear everywhere outside of your home. "Stand your ground" means that you must no longer yield ground to an assailant - you have the right to go about your business unmolested, and a legal right to protect yourself while doing so.
When Daryl Gates was chief of police in L.A., he tole the citizens that "we cannot put a policemen in every home; you should arm yourselves."
The old cliche' that "there is never a cop around when you need one" has been repeated enough to become a cliche' because of the truth inherent in it. Nothing like a Beretta loaded with .357 Magnum Hollowpoints to make you feel safer. :)
