They spend vast sums of cash lobbying the "regulators" and create quite a few positions within business as a reward for the folks who rotate out when they rotate a new exec into a position to write the rules "regulating" the very industry they came from. And when Big Pharma, Big Oil and the others are most effective its when they're in "public" positions spending your money to run things their way, run others out and to bail themselves out when the invisible hand of the market threatens to "taketh away." Who wouldn't want that kind of "regulation?"

Of course the problem with any argument about a CP "industry" is its lack of existence outside the fevered imaginations of the Child Protection industry; who make real bucks to protect our nations youth from a 20 billion smurfberry economy which evaporates when examined.

But hey, the "protectors" have taken crony-capitalism one step further. At least Corporations are real. Some private money gets spent. Even if the regulation boondoggle is a smoke and mirrors game.

The Child Protectionists are suppressing an "industry" which is fictitious; thus creating an even more "efficient" model of spending public money on security.
