That's why we work to make more choices profitable, instead of less of them.

Lot's of luck in your hope to tame capitalism instead of replacing it with a more advanced and ethical socio-economic system.

It's already being replaced. The proof is in the fervent environment now in Austrian and Objectivist circles about whether to even keep the word or make a new one; not unlike the debate here on whether to keep the P word or adopt another. Yes, some do believe the word is irredeemably lost.

the end result was akin to people trying to domesticate wild animals like wolves.

Try another. All dogs are reproducible with wolves and their offspring would be usually tame; even a genetic wolf can be tamed a lot by being raised by dogs (as long as the dogs are themselves tame, of course).
