police overwhelmed by online child porn
Posted by Baldur on 2011-November-03 13:52:55 EDT, ThursdayI love this section of the article:
"There are also some characteristics that unify Internet 'predators'.
"An overwhelming majority are male Caucasians likely to have pedophiliac preferences and have little to no criminal history. Compared to traditional sex offenders, like those convicted of sexual assault and rape, online-based offenders have higher IQs and higher educational backgrounds."
(I put 'predators' in quotes above to indicate the people they are talking about are not really predators - just people who have been caught with child pornography.)
The translation of the above is essentially this: pedophiles tend to be normal, peaceful, law-abiding men who contribute to the community.
Now that the "experts" have finally figured out what we knew long ago, let's hope they are a little bit quicker to realize that knocking down the pillars of their community is not necessarily a good idea.
