This is why I don't think it is totally negative that he will not be charged.

EVERY single case he's presided on will now be revised again, and most are likely to be appealed.

Yes, even cases unrelated to physical assault or downloading. Any good defense lawyer would say the judge is incompetent for the bench because of his own issues, whichever the charge may have been.

New juries will be biased to find all the defendants innocent. DAs will be pressed by public opinion to accept deals that let everyone out and not fight a new trial.

And every defendant will be ready to sue both the judge and the judicial system. The judge will certainly have to pay at least to some, at least until running out of money. And the system too.

In the whole picture, his indiscretion might cost him not just a career as a judge, but every single one of the convictions he presided on.
