My problem is that *any* censorship is arbitrary.

Nah, I can't agree with that. To me it is a kind of political correctness to suggest that all information has equal merit. It doesn't. But, I do think one must weigh the pros and cons (as best as they are understood in a given situation.) Anyway, while I would not agree to the government censoring rape jokes, social networking sites are a private entity and have the right to make rules. It's a bit silly to think they would not be subject to cultural prejudices. And also, they're free. It's a bit hard for me to sympathize with people who want to gripe about the rules of a site they pay nothing to use.
