Many of you have heard of this in the news, and there is quite a bit of chatter about it at BoyChat, but I thought it was a big enough story to at least mention it here.

Sandusky, who was the chief assistant coach to the most successful coach in college (American) football history has been charged with "assault" on various "boys". Of course, the most notable "assault" was an alleged instance of Sandusky performing oral sex on an unidentified early teen or possibly late tween, which a janitor claims to have witnessed - and the other "children" were all teenagers, but nevertheless....

I can't comment on the actual circumstances as I am simply not in a position to know, and it is possible for a man to exert considerable pressure without even recognizing what they are doing, but it is wise to remember the tendency of the media and prosecutors to exaggerate claims of sexual abuse.

What is interesting is how many people seem to have ignored the allegations, though in fairness many in the University administration were probably aware of how often false allegations are made. Even more interesting is the show of public support for Coach Paterno whom Sandusky assisted. Paterno was fired by the university because he "only" reported an allegation that was relayed to him to his superiors, instead of immediately presuming guilt and pursuing a prosecution himself.

The media and all are making a huge deal about this as always, but it is worth noting how many people just don't give a shit about hyperbolic claims of abuse.
