Paterno did not do what was right; he did what was expedient. Big difference. The people at PSU were more interested in protecting the brand.

As far as the assistant being a homophobe, what may have really worried him was reporting a long-time coach who spent his career at PSU and had recently retired, and was still using campus facilities,

The school told him to take it somewhere else.

The "pinned against the wall" was another victim, not the one that the assistant saw being sodomized.
